I just learned of an excellent tradition that Ali Edwards began on her blog a few years ago. This is the “public tradition of choosing a single word to focus on over the course of the year.”
I love this (and a lot more than the traditional “New Year’s Resolution” because it allows so many different opportunities and explorations. Saying “I’m going to lose weight this year” is one thing (and one that isn’t usually achieved, unfortunately). Saying “Health” will be a focus is something that can include the lost weight, but can also include not focusing so much on the weight. It can mean focusing on being more active or letting go of the past or finding your own strength. So many possibilities from one word — and much easier to remember in the midst of fibro fog moments!
I posted there, but will post here as well. My word for 2010 is AUTHENTIC. I look forward to exploring all that word means and will mean to me with you in 2010!
